Angry driver sticker

Stefan had read somewhere the other day that people are angry at other drivers when driving because they consider their car their own territory. A trick for knowing if the driver is an angry one is to check if they have put any stickers on the car->because a sticker shows the person have marked their territory, so the more stickers the more angry the driver.

It's funny that the day after he told me this I saw a car in traffic driving completely insane-and what sticker was not in the back of the car if not an advertisement for a politician in the Finnish Parliamentary elections in April!:D

If the driver thought he/she was doing a good marketing campaign for the candidate by crossing three lanes in one go and speeding past everybody else, he/she thought wrong.

Imagine if it was the candidate herself (yes it was a woman) driving the car. Perhaps she should make a career as a rally driver instead.

It's been a nice sunny day, not too cold and my parents have been over for dinner. It would be a perfect afternoon for a long walk with the dog if I just wasn't so tired. Can it be that we are already too old to party hard? :o

Finland and liberality (or not)

Read yesterday an article in HBL about how being an homosexual is usually not a valid reason to apply for asylum in Finland. Well I don't want to speculate now in what is right or wrong when giving people asylum in this country but what caught my attention was that homosexuality was considered a crime in Finland until 1971 and a sickness until 1981! That is only three years before I was born :-O

I thought I was living in a liberal country with Finland being the third country in the world and first country in Europe to give women voting right in 1906.

Well everyday you learn something...

Personally I have never really understood how people care to put so much enery into what is right and wrong when it comes to colour of skin, race or sexuality. What does it matter if it a nice person?

Agility

Every Saturday morning at 9am (!) I usually head to agility training with this cute dog if it is not too cold.

Sometimes it's difficult to get up that early in the morning on a Saturday but once you are there and you see how happy he is it is worth it and now I have started enjoying it too-in the beginning I was super nervous and not sure what to do. I am always the same when trying a new thing even if I know there is nothing to be nervous of- but I guess I have to get comfortable with the surroundings and the people first.

Unfortunately we just heard that Helsinki city has closed down the agility hall for some time because the building doesn't building is not secure in it's structure. I guess this have something to do with the amount of snow on the roof but I am not sure. Well hopefully we can enjoy agility training soon again.

When I started blogging in X3m it was the thing that everybody did. Then I went to Italy for exhange and suddenly Cia read my blog while she was in Sweden on exchange and I read hers and that's how we are friends :-) It was a good tool to stay in touch with people at home-and now it is a tool to stay in thouch with people that are away-and you find friends as well through the blogs

What you ate today

I started the day with a cup of choclate and a Runeberg's cake that we had left from Thursday when Stefan's uncle and aunt was still here. I wanted them to try them as 5th of February was the Runeberg day and they are acctually good. Runeberg is for the once who does not know the guy who wrote the lyrics to our national anthem and the cakes are supposed to have been his favorites.

For lunch we had an omelette that Stefan cooked-super yammi.

And for dinner I tried doing Lasagne with spinach and feta, I found the recipe here. It was good but I would have left out the feta maybe and my lasagne didn't look very good :D

This cutie we didn't eat but we went to see her. Our friends had a baby on thursday so she's only 3 days old. Cute! Even if I do not usually warm up to babies to much.

Dog Stuff

I couldn't resist shopping for Faro today after I had been at the hairdresser. I found some adorable ecological dog toys by Harry Baker, some Agility toys, treats, a bone and finally I bought a clicker. I'm not completely comfortable with the idea of the clicker because I am so clumsy with things in my hands usually but the fact is I am also slow with the timing of the treats when training Faro so I'll give it a chance. I will start at home though trying it out with something easy and we'll see how it works for us.

I've been looking for this sort of touching stick too that people use when training their dogs but haven't found one yet or they are always sold out.

Slippery

My Ugg-boots are warm which is good in this weather (-26! The hairs in one's nose is freezing when you breath out there).

However the boots are quite slippery so I fell gracefully on my ass when crossing the street this morning. I didn't hurt myself but it is always a bit embarrassing.

Visitors

This year has started well on friend and family visiting us. Last month we enjoyed the company of Susana-especially Faro had the best time has he found someone as excited about the snow as he is:)

This week we have visitors from France. Yesterday we enjoyed bluberry cider @ Teerenpeli and reindeer and elk meat in restaurant Lappi.

On the weekend we had time for a visit in Porvoo, sauna and walk in Nuuksio national park.

Hair

Cold & Late

Today is -24 and of course the train didn't come. Should have known as the trains are famous for being late when it is cold. Luckily I had my iPhone that showed me the fastest route with the buses easily. I usually always get lost in Haaga but this time it was easier than ever to find where to get of one bus and on to the next. Maybe I dare to use this route again, usually I go through the centre because of some misfortunate times when I took the bus in the wrong direction or otherwise got lost on this route.

Appartment

Ou how I would like to have this flat!

It is in the same house and floor as our flat-just 17 squaremeters bigger than ours! (which is about the amount of extra squaremeeters that we would need) Perfect! Too bad it is 100 EUR's more in rent-for renting I am not sure it is worth-however, if it was for sale we could probably not afford it anyway :-/

Happy Valentine's no 2

Stefan has been telling me all week that he doesn't like the concept of valentines so I was super surprised when he brought me roses-maybe that was his plan all along:)

Except for now I seem like a bad girlfriend who did not buy nothing.

Most importantly though we had a nice dinner with a glass of wine and a long chat about this tragical world. Sometimes it gets depressing thinking of all the wrongs and how stupid mankind is but I like having deep talks like this, it helps me keep things in perspective.

Now don't think it was a bad valentine's! It was perfect!

Small Thieves

Hehe, we found this cute note in the building corridor the other day. The note is an apology from a couple of mum's for their kids as they have taken people's door decorations in the building and decorated their playhouse. It says they have had a serious talk with them and explain where people can pick up their decorations from. Kids nowadays!;)

I am a bit offended though as they did not consider our door angel worthy their playhouse. Stefan had witnessed them checking it out but leaving it behind, even though the whole thing didn't make sense for him until we read the note.

Friends

This is again a tricky one so I decided to gather some photos from Vappu 2009 because I remember being happy that Vappu having a lot of friend's around and we finished the party on our balcony in the warm springsun.
