Music Challenge Day 17

A song that you hear on the radio.

Since we moved to Sweden I'm mostly listening to P1 and they don't play any music really.

But I remember that last time we were in Finland, driving Naantali-Lovisa we heard this song on the radio. I remember because it was something like six in the morning and the weather was shitty but we liked the song.

Bad Time Management

Obvioulsy I relaxed a bit too much after the exam. Today when I was gonna take on the challange to clean the house and take care of perhaps some summer job applications soon fouind out I have completely forgotten I need to write my analytical note for the seminar tomorrow.

After driving to school to get hold of some articles in the library and being in the gym with Sirpa I am finally back home and have not gotten nothing done. Seems also our car has a funny noice when breaking....better take care of that as well as soon as possibel as well.

One of my proffessors

You can check out my proffessor in the course I've been studying to lately so much here.

Music Challenge Day 15

A song that describes you.

That's impossible to choose only one song!

But who would not want to be a Cat ? (not me, but I've always tease Stefan with this song)

On another note, I acctually found a song called Catarina! Not too bad either.

Music Challenge Day 14

A song that people don't expect me to like.

I thought of this one because I don't usually listen to stuff like Sonata Arctica. I had to google the gender...apparently they are a power metal band, whatever that means? Anyhow, Shamandalie is a nice song I think.

A little piece of Helsinki

makes me feel a little bit homesick.

Time Lapse May 27, 2011 from rebecca littman-smith on Vimeo.

Music Challenge Day 13

A song that you're embarassed that you like. (that's at least how I understood Stefan's translation :-P)

I picked this song, I used to listen to it probably when I was around 7.

Exam is finally over for the second time, now I'm so relaxed that I don't get nothing done.

Music Challenge Day 12

A band that I hate.

Well Maroon 5 for example. Sorry, if anybody here likes them but there is just something with his voice that I don't like. Perhaps not hate but disslike for sure. Additionally I never understood the name Maroon what? 5 why?

Music Challenge Day 11

A song from your favorite band.

This was again a bt more difficult, and anyway, when is a band a band or just a singer? In any case, not to repeat myself too much I picked Florence and the machine. It's not often that one band has so many songs you like, she has a fantastic voice and I love that they are using a harp.

Study "diet"

I'm sorry for the lame posts but all the study life is pretty booring.

Lucky!

Stefan cooks for me when I'm busy studying.

Music Challenge Day 10

A song that makes me tired.

How can a song called "twinkle twinle little star" not make you tired?

Music Challenge Day 9

Hopefully I learn how to spell challenge by the end of this :-)

Today it is a song that I could dance to.

I can to most things with a bit of rythm unless I really hate the song for some reason. I chose however Sean Kingston-Beautiful Girls because it reminds me a sunny day dancing in the streets of Nothing Hill (during Nothing Hill carnival). It's some years ago now but it was a GREAT feeling there, too bad we couldn't stay for long cause we had a plane to catch.

Music Challenge Day 8

A song that I know all the lyrics to.

I was such a big fan of Bon Jovi when I was younger. I knew all the lyrics to the album "Crossroads" and "These Days" I think. Unfortunately, he destroyed it all by doing the song "it's my life" and cut his hair. Things were never the same again.

Music Challenge Day 7

A song that reminds you a specific event.

This song reminds me the Brazilian night we went to in Helsinki with Stefan, it was my Samba teacher in my gym who told us to go there and it was really fun! This was some years ago though...perhaps 2008 or 2009?  Before the concert we went to eat some great Brazilian food in the restaurant Bossa and afterwards we joined the concert and after a looong wait we finally saw Elza Soares live (she has been in a car accident the same day so she was a bit late). She's an old lady now though but what a great voice she had live! Much better than this version!

We also saw the band Farofa Carioca.

Be there or be square!

Or be there if you wanna hear us sing...

Music Challange Day 6

A song that reminds you a place.

This song reminds me Gijón, I can't believe it's already almost 3 years since we were there! :-/ I hope we can go soonto Spain again!

Fluish

Ou nou, just when I feel like I'm getting a flu I've finished my peppermint and eukalyptus honey and my blackcurrant juice. How will I survive now?

Bizarre Food from Finland

Quite funny! Got a bit homesick when I saw this! Found it here.

Music Challange Day 5

A song that reminds me of somebody.

This song reminds me Nat because we sang it while playing singstar with her. I had never heard about the whole song and it's such an absurd song! Haha!

Note to self

After cutting chili, don't scratch your eye before you washed your hands properly.

Studying again

Gaaah! I'm so frustrated as the basic algebra is so difficult for me!

Music Challange Day 4

A song that makes you sad.

For example: Melissa Horn's "Hanna" and Laleh's "Hide Away" ,but I already posted those in a November post some years ago.

So here is Johan Mayer's "Split Screen Sadness" for you:

Music challange Day 3

A song that makes you happy.

This was such a hard task, most songs are not so cheerful, and on top of that it really depends on the situation what songs make me happy.

This one made me in whichever case happy today cause it was related to a cute video and it was quite suprising to find Willie Nelson sing Coldplay.

Tuesday, February 14, 2012

Phweew!

What snowstorm we have! Just arrived back to Knutby, after an exhausting car ride. But now it can snow cause I don't need to go to school for a few days.

Music Challenge Day 2

Day 2 in the challange is the song that you like least among the songs you listen to.

I picked this one as I'm ashamed that sometimes I fall into the easy melody pop Rn'B trap, luckily you get reeeaaally tired of these kind of songs really quickly.

Added Bonus for Valentine's Day:

Happy Valentine's Day to all of you!

Music challenge day 1

Stefan's friend has been doing a 30 day music challange on Facebook and I thought it could be fun to do it on the blog.

So first day challange is to post your favorite song. Not so easy! It depends completly on what day and what mood you catch me in but in the end I decided for this one as I've been cursing several times that you can only find live versions on this song where both Lisa Ekdal and Lars Winnerbäck are singing. It's just not as good without Lisa's voice as well, Sorry Lars!

Naan-Bread

Baked Naan-bread yesterday to eat with the spicy chickpeas we made. I was accutally very happy with how they tasted even if I was not so sure about how they would turn out. I think Faro approved of the smell as he suddenly had an urge to check out what was happening in the kitchen.

Dentist and SAUNA!

pheeew, now my teeth are fixed at least for a while. Not pleasant but now its done.

Went to the gym with Sirpa as I slept over last night at their place, it was much easier as I otherwise needed to drive early today just for the dentist. The gym was fun, even if I'm not in a great shape but the sauna afterwards was EXCELLENT! Haven't been in sauna since Christmas so I could probably have stayed all night in there. Especially since it's been so cold outside.

Gospel Choir

Sirpa convinced me go and try out the gospel choir. I wasn't all to convinced gospel was my thing but what the heck, it was acctually quite fun and we didn't go all too religious. It's a bit of a glee-feeling acctually so that's fun.
I haven't either sang in a choir since high school times so it was fun. Apperently the choir will have a concert on 19th February, iiinteresting. Luckily the whole thing does not depend on mine and Sirpa's performance as there is a hole lot of singers who've apparently sang for some years already.

Here is the church we are rehearsing in:

It is just beside the cathedral of Uppsala and also quite pretty inside but much smaller.

I couldn't share the youtube video's of the songs we've sang but here are the links if you want to listen.

I didn't know this was Beatles, neither had I heard it before:

The Beatles-Because

This one we will sing next time if I understood correctly, can't wait as I'm a big Hairspray fan :-)

You can't stop the beat-from Hairspray

Nice one:

Brighter day-Kirk Franklin

and the last one is the most typical gospel song:

Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir- Hallelujha to the king

Faro and the Sunset

Now you know why we call him the "cocodrilo"

Monday, February 6, 2012

Question

Why is it that the Ugg boots are the warmest but the most slippery?

Bed Time

Trying out the instagram app. Faro usually sleeps in the bed but tonight he found a place on the blanket on the floor.

How Boring

The elections went just as predicted, so no gay presindent for us and no excitement.

Otherwise the weekends has past well but too quickly, it was lovely to see Martin and Sabina again and I wish them all the best of luck with "Pannu" ;-) Hope we can visit their house soon!

Yesterday morning we had a bit of trouble with frozen pipes so it took some time until we could take a shower. We dared to ventured to Uppsala anyway for partying even if I thought I'd freeze my ass. In the end it was fun though and the more the....warmer and merrier! Because a lot of people we were, crammed into a student flat.

Tomorrow I'm starting a new effort on the studying part, for the re-exam. I hope I have time to follow the new course as well as the project without going insanely nuts.

Hubabaloo

This morning I was obviously a bit down but Sirpa reminded me there is not much that is so bad it cannot be cured with a bit of chocolate.

Now the guests may arrive.

Voi Kökkeli!

Two points from passing the exam from hell! I knew I was close but I also new I run out of time on the end. Started out way too slow, writing too neatly because I thought I had heaps of time for some reason. (well, 5 hours IS a lot of time, no?)  I guess I'm gonna take the re-exam in two weeks then, am I inspired to study more on that subject. NOT really!

I'm mostly annoyed that I was so close but yet so far...Better take out the bag with the course material and sort them neatly again.

At least the new course is much more fun and no numbers and counting.

Now, I should finish my analytical note so I have time to clean because tonight we're getting special guests from Finland. Not feeling on top of things today though, woke up feeling flu-ish and seeing the exam results...I'm sure I feel a bit too warm....must be fever...

And I listened to the radio....

...and was positively suprised that Pekka spoke so well Swedish, there was nothing wrong with his English either if I remember correctly. Lyssna: Presidentkandidaternas personlighet i fokus

Waiiit a second

Where do I sleep??

Stefan is Back!

...all well and safe and all French (he says it's just tiredness).  I'm not sure what to do with the guy, he keeps talking and talking even if his whisky-voice (that is apparently from the airconditiong...riiight ;-) ) is already fading.

Well, I served him a good spicy meal with some real food (that they apparently didn't have time for during the exhibition) and hopefully a good night's sleep will bring back the voice and the Spaniard :-)

He was veeeeery kind and brought me some Macaron's, lucklily he only bought six as I ate them all at once. I even ate one before I remembered to take a pic. So good, mmmMMMMmmmm, loooove them!
